Benefit of the doubt

When you hear a new idea or find a new approach to something, do you give it the benefit of the doubt and see if it works or do you assume it wont work and never try?

Giving the benefit of the doubt can allow for tremendous advances while assuming something wont work will usually result in more of the status quo.

Give the benefit of the doubt and see what might happen.

One sign of knowing whether someone respects you is whether they listen to you.

If they don’t listen it’s certainly a sign of a lack of respect.

It doesn’t matter whether a person says they respect you or not, it’s easy to make that determination simply by whether they listen or not.

Just a thought

The Opposite

The Golden Rule is “Do to others what you want them to do to you”

The opposite of this is also true. Do NOT do to others what you don’t want them to do to you”.

This might seem obvious but I believe if more people lived by this, the world would be a better place.

Fear and Interest

Napoleon Bonaparte once said “There are only two forces that unite men – fear and interest.”

When I read that it really made me think. In looking at many of the organizations and clubs I’m familiar with, they have been formed for one of those two reasons.

Some groups start out because of fear and then morph into a group that is together because of interest and others do the exact opposite.

I believe it’s important to figure out which is the motivator of any group because it will frequently show you the right path when dealing with the organization.
