Learning from mistakes

People talk about learning from mistakes and not repeating them but it’s important to realize that not repeating a mistake is NOT good enough. We must learn from our mistakes and remove that class of mistake as well.

To use a very simple example, if you go to the store and forget to buy sugar, it’s not good enough to simply never forget sugar again. The correct lesson would be that we can’t remember everything so we should create a list, in advance, and that way not only wont we forget sugar, we wont forget anything else either. That would be removing an entire class of mistakes.

When learning from your mistakes, learn to remove entire classes of mistakes and not just the particular mistake.

Have a great day!
