The importance of relationships in business

There are two types of ways to do business with customers.

Transactional business
Relationship business

In transactional business it’s a “one and done” type situation. The customer wants a product, you have a product, they like the price and make the purchase. In many cases you will never hear from this customer again if they can find the product somewhere cheaper.

Relationship business takes longer to develop because it requires making an actual connection with the customer. It means you learn about them and they learn about you, you develop a long term relationship, you are looking for long term business instead of just the current transaction.

It’s easier to do a transactional business but if you are looking to develop something long term, definitely look into developing the true relationship.
