If you sell something shouldn’t you also support it?

The other day I went to a place that sells cell phones in order to get a new battery for my phone. When I asked about getting a replacement battery they looked at me somewhat surprised and said “we have never carried batteries but we can sell you a new phone”.

Why would I want to buy a phone from a company that can’t provide pretty basic support for what they sell? It would have been different if they said they could order a replacement, or tell me how to get a replacement but to simply say that they don’t do that is completely unacceptable.

Do you provide support to what you offer?
