If you are in a fight and the opponent knows that at some point, if things don’t look good for you that you will quit, it makes their life much easier. On the other hand, if they know you will never give up, they have to hold things back and conserve their resources because they know you will fight till the end and they have to be prepared.
This was one of the many things that made Bobby Fischer such a great chess player. His opponents knew he wouldn’t ever give up and his dogged determination caused opponents to make mistakes that they normally wouldn’t make.
The same concept applies to many areas of life. If others know that you are in something for the long haul they will treat you differently then if they think you will take the easy way out, given the chance.
If you want to succeed, show you are willing to fight to the end.
Have a great day!
