Just because it is how things are now

Currently there is so much talk about politics and the two political parties here in the US that it’s easy to forget that it wasn’t always these two parties.

William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor and Millard Fillmore all are former presidents who were members of the Whig Party. Presidents Lincoln, Hayes, Arthur and Harrison were at one point Whigs before joining the Republican Party.

Just because we currently have the Republican and Democratic parties doesn’t mean that is the way it always was…and based on how things are looking right now, just because it’s the way it is now doesn’t mean it’s the way it should be going forward.

I’m not saying people should vote for a third party candidate but I am saying if the current choices are the best we have in these two parties, maybe going forward we should be thinking with a bit more of an open mind of where we want things to go in future elections and campaigns.

Just a thought.

Have a great day!
