One of the great things about living in the US is everyone is entitled to their own opinion. We might agree with their opinion, we might disagree with their opinion, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
The thing we have to remember is just because someone has an opinion, and has a platform to express it doesn’t mean they have any credibility.
This time of year, sports commentators talk about things college football players did right, things they did wrong, and why they should or shouldn’t be drafted by a certain teams. When the draft comes about these same commentators will criticize decisions by general managers, coaches etc. While these commentators are certainly entitled to their opinions, it doesn’t mean that some of these self professed experts know more than anyone else.
Likewise, I just read an article about why Warren Buffett is wrong about his investing strategy and everything he is doing wrong. While the author certainly has the right to write whatever he wants to write, that doesn’t mean he is right. I’m not knowledgeable about the type of investing Buffett does nor about what this author is writing about but I do know that if I had to follow the advice of one of them, I’m going to follow the person with 50 years of success as opposed to the person who sits on the side and critiques.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but it doesn’t mean they are right or we have to listen.
Have a great day!
