When most people talk about managing people they are thinking in terms of managing people underneath them. The truth is most of us have to manage up as well.
Managing up might mean learning to deal with your bosses. For those who don’t have “bosses” think in terms of managing your customers, your shareholders, your board of directors, your creditors, your bankers or your significant others.
It’s too easy to think managing up isn’t important but if you don’t do so you might find you have lost a lot more.
