When you go for medical testing errors can happen. We might like to think they can’t, we might like to think they wont but in reality, mistakes get made.
If you are involved in this type of testing it’s important to realize that while mistakes are unfortunate, if you are going to make a mistake, make a mistake on the side of caution.
No one wants to get a bad prognosis. No one wants to hear bad news. However, when you get bad news it’s more likely you will go for a second opinion and get any misinformation corrected then if you were mistakenly told everything is good and only later you find out that was an error.
A false positive is a bad thing. A false negative can be fatal. If you have any say in the matter, err on the side of the false positive and not the false negative.
Have a great day!
