80 Hours per week

Some business people seem to think working long hours is the equivalent of a badge of honor. They talk about working 60, 70, 80 even 100 hours a week.

First of all, it’s not about the number of hours worked per day but rather about what is accomplished. If one person works 12 hours a day and another person works 1 hour a day but gets more accomplished, wouldn’t you want the person who gets more accomplished?

The second part is the reality of these type of hours. Using 80 hours a week as an example, assuming the person works 6 days a week, that means working 13 hours and 20 minutes a day. If this person starts at 7 AM it would mean ending work at 8:20 PM everyday assuming no breaks. If the person takes an hour break for meals, now we are talking starting at 7 AM and ending at 9:20 PM 6 days a week. Even if they work 7 days a week it would mean working almost 11 and a half hours a day 7 days a week.

This isn’t even taking into consideration time people waste on facebook, pinterest, texting, etc.

Focus on the quality of work and forget about the quantity.

Have a great day!
