Frequently we get asked to introduce one person to another. The mistake I frequently make in this process is to stay involved too long. I might make the introduction, attend the initial meeting and get copied on all of the emails exchanged in between.
The key is to make the introduction and then get out of the middle (unless you have a valid reason for wanting to be in the middle). It will be better for you (and probably better for the others as well).
