The cost of safety

We all want to be safe. However, in business, the cost of safety can be the longtime survival of your organization.

People who want to be safe all the time (in this case I’m not referring to physical safety but rather people who are afraid of failing and afraid of standing out) will result in an unwillingness to take the chance to be disruptive.

It was disruptive to think everyone could have a personal computer. It was disruptive to think people would have a smartphone they carry with them everywhere. It was disruptive to think people could fly in airplanes. It was disruptive to think we could have digestible sensors.

I understand the need to play it safe sometimes but it’s those people who are willing to be disruptive that change the world.
