Coaching the team rather than the result

I used to spend a LOT of time coaching soccer teams. I found the more I focused on how they were playing as opposed to the results, two things happened. First, I found that the teams played better and second, I found that the teams won more.

It was interesting to see the quote by Warren Buffett in his annual letter to shareholders where he wrote “Games are won by players who focus on the playing field – not by those whose eyes are glued to the scoreboard”.

Same basic concept (by a person whose success can not be debated)
