Don’t write what you wouldn’t say

It’s easy to hide behind a keyboard. The ability to send an email, text message, tweet or some other type of written communication from a distance makes some people a lot “braver” than they would be in person.

This is the reason we see cyber bullying with teenagers (and others), gossip spread through social media that is completely unsubstantiated etc.

The basic rule of thumb is a person shouldn’t write anything in an email, text, tweet or any other method that they wouldn’t say to the person’s face. If you use this rule of thumb you might be surprised how it changes what you write.

Have a great day!
