Willing to walk away

When involved in a negotiation it’s ideal if both sides can work together for the greater good. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case. When negotiations get tough it’s important to know whether you are willing to walk away or not. If you are, then you know to what extreme you can go in your negotiations. If you aren’t, then you always have to be aware that you can’t cross a certain line. If you cross that line you might end up walking away even though you aren’t wanting to.

It’s equally important to know (or at least think you know) whether the other side is willing to walk away. If you can walk away and they can’t, you have added power. If you can’t walk away and the other side can, they have the added power.

The only thing worse than not having the added power is not knowing who does.

Have a great day!
