Scarcity as a marketing tool

If a restaurant is open 7 days a week you can go anytime so unless it’s difficult to get a table, there is no need to plan ahead.

On the other hand, if a restaurant is only open 3 days a week (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) and it’s a restaurant you really like, you have to plan to go on the days it’s open.

The restaurant that is open 7 days a week can always be visited “tomorrow”. The restaurant that is only open a few days a week requires planning to attend.

This is an interesting example of the use of scarcity in marketing. Things that are readily available can quickly be forgotten. Things that require planning and thought can become more sought after very easily
