A basketball coach draws up a play. The center sets a back screen for the small forward. The point guard throws an alley oop pass to the small forward who dunks the ball. It’s a can’t miss play.
The problem is, the small forward is 5 feet 6 inches tall and doesn’t jump well. The concept behind the play might be great BUT if the personnel involved can’t execute the play, it will fail.
In business we frequently come up with big picture concepts and plans but if we don’t have the personnel and other resources to execute, the theory will prove to be an executable failure.
When making your plans, make sure they fit within the resources available.
Have a great day!
