Most people have a line they don’t want to cross. This line might be for legal reasons, ethical reasons, moral reasons or some other reasons. The problem is, your line and my line might be very different.
This becomes an even bigger issue when people assume everyone has the same line.
In the same way that we should define our terms when speaking with people, we need to let them know where our line is, how strong a line it is and what the ramifications are for crossing the line.
For some people, they will never cross their lines. For others, while they don’t want to cross the lines, for the right reason and the right reward they will do so. For others, the line is more of a guideline.
Understanding where peoples lines and how important they are to the people will make a whole lot of difference in how you deal with them.
Have a great day!
