There are opportunities everywhere. When we find one we think is worth pursuing we will frequently “bet the ranch” or come close to going “all in”. If we aren’t willing to make a real commitment to the opportunity it’s not worth pursuing at all.
On the other hand, there does come a time to know when to fold them. At some point it’s important for people to realize it’s not worth going any further and for whatever reason, it’s best to simply say “I”m done”.
The challenge is to know when we should quit and when we should keep pushing ahead (Seth Godin has a wonderful book titled The Dip: A Little Book That Teaches You When to Quit (and When to Stick).
If we quit too early, we miss a great opportunity. If we quit too late, we might lose everything.
I’m not sure there is a good way to know when to hold them and when to fold them but if you can figure it out, it makes things a LOT easier.
Just something to think about.
Have a great day!
