Two forms of customer service

Some people look at good customer service as having someone always available to help. You walk into a store and someone asks you “may I help you?” You look at a product and someone asks you “do you have any questions?”

Another form of customer service is you walk into a store and it’s organized in a way that you are able to find what you are looking for right away, the description of the products are easy to find and accurate and the pricing/checkout process is so simple you don’t need any help. If you do have a question, there is an easy way to contact a person.

The first method gives the impression of really providing great customer service.

The second method requires a lot more organization and planning but in my mind, the fact they did all the work in advance, which makes the process easier on my end, shows truly great customer service.

It’s just a matter of how you look at things

Switching roles

Sometimes when you want to change things up it’s best to consider changing roles with someone else.

If you are a soccer coach, consider switching teams with another coach for a practice. Getting a second set of eyes, a second perspective, a second intuition can provide a great change for all.

If you are an attorney, having a second attorney take a look at a case can allow young take a different approach.

Occasionally switching roles with an equal can result in a positive experience for all concerned.

Be careful how you treat people

Sometimes the person you want to meet with isn’t the person you should be meeting with.

The real challenge is making sure the person you really should be meeting with isn’t mistreated because you didn’t think they were important enough?

Everyone you meet might be the next person you really want to meet so treat them as such.

If you mean yes, say yes

A business colleague suggests a change to a plan and you agree. Do you then have the right to be mad at the change and hold it against them?

If you say yes, then mean yes. If you mean no, then say no.

It’s really not that complicated

Follow your gut

The law might require many of the things listed above but in every day life there comes a point where one must be willing to make a decision based in intuition and go with their gut feelings.

It’s a greater risk when one follows their feeling but you might be surprised how often you are right.

Sell with sincerity

Sell with knowledge and you might make the sale

Sell with passion and you might make the sale

Sell with indifference and you probably wont make the sale

Sell with sincerity and you might make the sale short term and you probably will make it long term.
