Many people have used the Socratic Method to help people not just learn but to truly learn to think for themselves.
Some feel it takes longer than a more traditional “lecture” type but since so many people have used the ‘guided questions’ technique the question I have is why don’t more people use it on a regular basis in teaching?
It works with young people, it works with older people, it works in an educational environment, it works on a work environment.
What is stopping you from using this very old, very successful teaching technique? Is it the fear of the unknown? Is it the lack of control? Is it the the fear of doing something different?
If you aren’t using the Socratic Method in some of your teachings, it might be worth trying.
Have a great day!
